When Non Professionals hold Power

We have time and again whispered in a hypothesis that awful leadership consequences in manifold evils: lack of education; poor housing; poor health services; poor transport systems; enormous levels of poverty which are all as a upshot of supreme levels of corruption, preferential treatment and horrific governance.

Most commentators have without fail agreed that the best logic to approach this deplorable inclination is to purge those regimes which with intent make their people suffer from the furthermost horror on the globe (Poverty).

What we have not been able to do is to excavate deep on the real fundamental reasons why in the first place we have bad leaders in Africa. I sturdily believe that Africa has not been able to have leaders who have admiration for systems which in turn raise unsurpassed levels of bad governance, and failure to convey the services to the citizens.

Our leaders are not professionals and simply have no orientation that would train them to restrain from doing bad or cheer them to doing atleast fair! Fore example I have struggled and failed to find out what orientation some of our Presidents went through. This is mainly because I can not comprehend anymore how any Chief Executive Officer in this case the President can possibly preside over a country whose levels of poor or no service delivery have reached this far!

In Uganda you don’t need to go far to notice how deeply the systems are kaput and how public service is not operational anymore.I have been brought to the full test of the sordid and terrible service deliver in our my own country which the current regime presides over. They ought to be mortified about his poor display.

My mother accomplished her public service profession as a midwife in August 2007 after magnificently servicing her country for 40 years of which 21 of those are beneath the current country leadership. To my bewilderment when my mother was retiring to her countryside, the government could not manage to pay for her transport to her home and she was left no alternative but to contact her children of course we come to her salvage, the government ought to do its job and I blame the leadership. As if that is not adequate mother started a long journey to claim her gratuity and pension, but it has never been processed to this date. One wonders whether that is gratuity or something else.

As the current leadership carries its head high boasting of bringing fundamental change, I wonder if they ever solicit to know how people like my mother are able to survive in these challenging times when they spent their youthful age serving the country but are not able to access their gratuity and pension after retiring at an old age for over 2 years now and still counting.

But am quickly reminded however that most of our leaders are not professionals and as such they can not be expected to do well or atleast do fair. They are prepared to continue holding onto power for as long as they can, even when things are not well at all. A professional would take responsibility and quit!!

I always thought that atleast some who are from a miltary back ground attended professional army courses and that these would surely have equipped them to be professionals but wapi!! They never attended even cadet courses; God only knows how they accumulated ranks to Generals.

Ladies and gentlemen we need professionals to take over leadership, non professional can not restrain from doing bad or encourage doing atleast fair.

  2. Cannon, i truly understood your reservations for thats the atmosphere the African regimes have presented for its people "fear".

But i can assure you about one thing. whether one of them or not we all live in the same communities and enjoy together the lack of basic needs and development for our communities which bythe way is not a favour but a fundamental right.

so wakeup Cannon, and demand for accountability! and hey you need to over come your fear!

  3. Mose, am glad that you have seen this finally ofcourse if its from the deepest bottom of your heart! Some of us saw some time back what others are seeing now! As your mum, there are many people like her out there who have been trying to retreave what belong to them ( Pension)in vain. Iam one person who believe the people with state mercinery today have done quite great for this country, but i think they nolonger have edge cutting ideas for this generation.

Some one however was is always quick to remind me that African leaders dont quit. The idea of a professional probably would work but again i remember that with powers in your hands, every one can be corrupted.
